В статье анализируются причины, приведшие к усилению переселенческих настроений среди крестьянского населения Латвии в первой половине ХІХ в. Рассматриваются материальное положение латышских переселенцев, организация ими хозяйственной деятельности на территории Беларуси в период после Крестьянской реформы 1861 г. и начала формирования рыночных отношений.

The article analyzes the reasons that led to the strengthening of migratory sentiments among the peasant population of Latvia in the first half of the 19th century. The material situation of the Latvian migrants, their organization of economic activity in Belarus in the period after the Peasant Reform of 1861 and the beginning of the formation of market relations are examined.

The Orthodox Latvian community of Orsha County in the early ХХ century
Статья посвящена состоянию и основным направлениям деятельности православной латышской общины Оршанского уезда в начале ХХ в. Данная община являлась уникальной, поскольку на территории белорусских губерний Российской империи не имелось других православных общин, созданных по национальному признаку. Её административным центром являлось местечко Лиозно, значительные успехи были достигнуты в благотворительной деятельности, создании церковно-приходских школ и братств.

The article is devoted to the Orthodox Latvian community of Orsha Сounty in the early ХХ century and its main activities. This community was unique because there were no other Orthodox communities established on the territory of the Belarusian provinces of the Russian Empire. Its administrative center was the town Liozna. The community has made significant progress in charity activities, the creation of parochial schools and fraternities.

Relations between cooperation and the state: on the example of consideration of the complaint of the Latvian “cultural economy” of Viciebsk County (1921–1923)
Артыкул прысвечаны адной з формаў сельскагаспадарчай вытворчай кааперацыі – масларобным арцелям, удзельнікамі якіх з’яўляліся латышы Віцебскага павета і губерніі. Удзел у падобных арцелях спрыяў мадэрнізацыі культурна-гаспадарчай дзейнасці іх членаў і павышэнню якасці вырабленай сельгаспрадукцыі. Дзяржава заахвочвала дзейнасць арцеляў і бачыла ў іх адзін са спосабаў стварэння таварных фондаў. Для гэтага на заканадаўчым узроўні ім выдаваліся розныя льготы, вельмі значныя ва ўмовах паслярэвалюцыйнага перыяду: члены арцеляў вызваляліся ад рэквізіцыі жывёлы, іншых агульнаграмадзянскіх павіннасцей, атрымлівалі вялікія, у параўнанні з іншымі сялянамі, надзелы зямлі і інш. Аднак у рэальнасці органы ўлады не заўсёды выконвалі правы членаў арцеляў, а пры вырашэнні спрэчных пытанняў дзяржаўныя структуры маглі кіравацца ў першую чаргу ідэалагічнымі меркаваннямі. У артыкуле таксама апісваюцца прылады латышскага хутара Абухава («культурнай гаспадаркі») сям’і Юргенсан, якая прымала ўдзел у дзейнасці масларобнай арцелі.

The article is devoted to one of the forms of agricultural production cooperation – butter-making cooperatives, in which participants were the Latvians of Viciebsk district and the province. Participation in such cooperatives contributed to the modernization of the cultural and economic activities of their members and to improving the quality of agricultural products. The state encouraged the activities of artels and saw in them one of the ways to create commodity funds. To do this, they were granted various privileges at the legislative level, which were very significant in the conditions of the post-revolutionary period: members of the cooperatives were exempted from requisitioning livestock and other general civil duties, received large land allotments, in comparison with other peasants. However, in reality, the authorities did not always respect the rights of members of artels, and when resolving disputes, state structures could be guided primarily by ideological considerations. The article also describes the structure of the Latvian farm Abukhova (“cultural economy”) of the Jurgenson family, which took part in the activities of the butter factory.

Робіцца выснова пра тое, што значная частка латышоў перамясцілася з вёсак у гарады і з сялянства ў пралетарыят.

Based on statistical and archival materials also used the information from the database “Victims of Political Terror in the USSR” the article analyzes changes in the social structure of the Latvian population of the BSSR in the 1920s and 1930s. make uses of such parameters as place of birth and residence, level of education, professional employment. The conclusion is drawn about the movement of a significant part of Latvians from villages to cities and from the peasantry to the proletariat.

В статье на основе опубликованных источников анализируется проведение Восьмого фестиваля любительских театров республик Прибалтики и Белорусской ССР «Рампа дружбы-88» в Гродно 19–23 мая 1988 г. Особое внимание уделяется участию двух театральных коллективов из Латвии – Народному театру из Мадоны и детскому театру «Спридитис» из Валмиеры. Отмечаются характерные особенности спектаклей, отзывы на них со стороны критики и общий сценарий проведения фестиваля. Делается вывод о важности театральных фестивалей для культурного сотрудничества между Беларусью и Латвией во второй половине 80-х гг. ХХ в.

Based on published sources, the article analyzes the conduct of Eighth Festival of Amateur Theaters of the Baltic republics and the Belarusian SSR “Rampa Druzhby-88” (“Ramp of Friendship-88”) in Hrodna on May 19–23 in 1988. Most attention is paid to the participation of two theater groups from Latvia – the Folk Theater from Madona and the children's theater “Sprīdītis” from Valmiera. The similar features of performances, reviews from critics and the general scenario of the festival are noted. From this follows the conclusion about the importance of theater festivals for cultural cooperation between Belarus and Latvia in the second half of the 80s of the XX century.

В статье рассматриваются границы белорусского населения на территории Латвии начала ХХ века на основании научных работ Евфимия Карского, прежде всего книги «Белорусы» и статьи «Отчёт о поездке в Белоруссию в течение летних месяцев 1903 года». Белорусский лингвист провел в 1903 году экспедицию с целью определить границу белорусского этноса, а также собрать материал о белорусских наречиях, понаблюдать за народным бытом и собрать фольклорный материал. Эффективность его работы рассматриваются с перспективы прошедших почти 120 лет и доступных на этот момент материалов.

The article focuses on the boundaries of the Belarusian settlement in Latvia at the beginning of the 20th century in the scientific works of Evfimiy Karskiy, primarily on the basis of the book “Belarusians” and the article “Report on a trip to Belarus during the summer months in 1903”. In 1903, a Belarusian linguist conducted an expedition to determine the border of the Belarusian ethnic group, as well as collect material about Belarusian dialects, observe everyday life and collect folklore material. The effects of his work are examined from the perspective of almost 120 years and available in this time materials.
